We are seeking experienced HR Consultants to join our HR Consultant Network. These highly motivated and influential business partners will join our team of HR consultants. The HR consultant will function as a generalist in the human resources field by providing coaching and counsel to small business owners in all areas of HR including employee relations, benefits, training, staffing, compensation and organizational development. The HR consultant partners with clients to diagnose business problems and recommend, develop, and implement appropriate HR programs and processes which improve business results for our clients.
This position is designed to accommodate someone searching for a flexible schedule and professional level work. Our Clients are small businesses that need HR help but are not big enough to afford your level of expertise full time. Your time is spread among 2-4 Clients. For these Clients, you provide assistance in strategic execution, soft-skills training, HR project development and basic HR assistance. This is not a traditional HR role. We pride ourselves on the relationships we build with our Client companies.
The ideal candidate will be the HR professional who takes a practical approach. You have to be willing to go outside the normal boundaries associated with traditional HR. Because of the relationship that is developed with our Clients we are often asked to assist in non-HR problems. That’s OK because our Consultants have a strong HR background and above average business acumen and background.

What does a HR Allen HR Consultant do?
Our Consultants work mainly with management and supervisors at our Clients. The Consultant can work on a staffing project for one Client, build a new bonus structure for another and solve an employee relations issue at a third. Our consultants keep busy with meaningful work.

The Consultant needs to be a generalist inside the HR function. You should have a strong background in Employee Relations, OD and exposure to the other disciplines. You must have worked inside the business not merely in the HR department. If you understand that statement you get it.

The part time Consultant role is perfect for someone with a family and wants a career, money and flexibility to be a parent. You can control your schedule. Where do I work?
This is a virtual position. In fact, our entire company is virtual. With today’s technology if you have a computer and phone you can be in touch and productive. We want to leverage technology so as to employee a workforce that is smart and motivated but unable to find work in traditional companies.
What is the time commitment?
Our part time Consultants have 2-4 Clients depending on their availability. Most of the work done is remote. This position will require site visits from time to time. Expect once to twice a month for each Client – sometimes more. You and the Client decide.
How do I get Clients?
Clients are assigned to you based on experience and fit. New Clients come from referral sources and professional sales representatives.
What kind of employee am I?
You will be an independent contractor of HR Allen Consulting Services. We use a network of local and non-local HR Consultants to assist our clients throughoutCalifornia.
Is there any travel involved?
Yes and no. Your Client will be based in the metro area and you will be required to go on site. Most travel within the metro area. Sometimes your Client will have a facility out of town and you may have to go for a day trip.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related discipline
- 5 years of directly related experience in all areas of Human Resources, including Employee Relations, Training and Development, Staffing, Compensation, Benefits and Organizational Development.
- PHR/SPHR/PHR-CA/SPHR-CA certification is preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills, including building relationships with senior leadership
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proven experience in group presentations and group facilitation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, HRIS software, and the internet
